“Hey, Beautiful”

The song “Hey, Beautiful” is the text of one of the last letters written by U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Juan Campos (1979-2007) to his wife from Iraq. Campos’s words appeared in The New York Times article “Six of the Fallen, in Words They Sent Home,” (March 2008) a collection of excerpts from e-mail messages, journals and web postings of six soldiers who died in Iraq since January 1, 2007. “Hey, Beautiful” is the letter just as Staff Sgt. Campos wrote it (though it has been edited slightly for length). All proceeds from this song go to his family.
